Ecogrip revolutionizes recycling with carbon black-free can carrier: Paving the way for sustainable packaging and circular economy

As part of Ecogrip's commitment to minimising environmental impacts, by aiming to eliminate waste and introducing smarter packaging, we are delighted to unveil our latest innovation: a black can carrier that is near-infrared transparent. This feature enables Australian recycling recovery plants to accurately sort materials through their infrared sensors, safeguarding packaging from ending up in landfill. By facilitating proper sorting, our black can carrier plays a crucial role in supporting a circular economy.

The primary constraint of near-infrared sorting within recycling plants lies in its inability to detect and segregate plastics containing carbon black, the widely used black pigment. Carbon black absorbs a substantial portion of both ultraviolet and infrared spectrums, hindering the reflection of infrared light back to the sensor. As a result, the inconsistent sensor recognition poses a challenge to sort black packaging effectively. Ecogrip's carbon black-free products not only overcomes this challenges but also contributes to a more sustainable and efficient recycling process.
